Disse legemidlene utgjør den største ATC gruppen målt i kroner i 2010 og den økte med 10 % (AIP) i forhold til 2009 (se tabell 7, s. 22).
Immunsuppressive legemidler (ATC gruppe L04A) Denne legemiddelgruppen har i kroner økt med 65 % siden 2006 og representerer nå mer enn halvparten av kostnadene i ATC gruppe L. Hovedsakelig er dette legemidler til behandling av reumatoid artritt og andre immunrelaterte sykdommer. Midlene virker modifiserende på immunsystemet.
Den viktigste undergruppen er tumor nekrose faktor alfa-blokkerende stoffer (TNF-alfablokkere, L04AB). Tall fra Reseptregisteret viser at nesten 10 000 individer har hentet resept på TNF-alfablokkere i 2010. I tillegg til disse kommer pasienter som får infliximab som infusjon på sykehus og som derfor ikke vil være registrert med individuelle resepter i Reseptregisteret. Tre av TNF-alfablokkere (etanercept, adalimumab og infliximab) var i 2010 henholdsvis nr 1, 2 og 3 på listen over de mest solgte reseptbelagte legemidlene i Norge i antall kr. (se tabell 2, 19). Målt i DDD var økningen i 2010 på 12 %, men disse legemidlene utgjør en svært liten andel av totalforbruket målt i DDD.

Immunosuppressants (ATC group L04A) In NOK, this drug group has increased by 65% since 2006 and constitutes more than half the costs in ATC group L. The immunomodulating agents for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and other immune related diseases contribute the most to this cost. The drugs act as modifiers of the immune system.
The most important sub-group is the tumor necrose factor alfa-blocking agents (TNF-alfa blockers, L04AB). Data from the Norwegian Prescription Database (NorPD) show that almost 10 000 persons had prescriptions on TNF-alfa blockers dispensed in 2010. In addition, many patients are given infliximab as an infusion at hospitals, and are therefore not registered with individual prescriptions in the NorPD. The three TNF-alfa blockers etanercept, adalimumab og infliximab were, in 2010, no. 1, 2 and 3, of the most sold prescription only medicines according to sales in NOK (see table 2, 19). Measured in DDDs the increase from 2009 to 2010 was 12%. However, these agents constitute only a minor part of the total sales measured in DDD.
